SPRING AND SUMMER DREAMS IN A BLUE TUNIC

BLUE TUNIC

Winter finally seemed to be over and the March sun has been strong enough to get rid of the remaining snow. But then I woke up to another white landscape last weekend and the forecast doesn't look promising at all.
Also I am spending these days at home as I came down with a cold and a throat infection. It is an up and down at this time of the year!

I am so ready for spring and the colours of my silky blue tunic from ESPRIT let me dream of the sea, sunshine and summer holidays! Until then I am pairing them with my favourite leather leggings. This is another mix of clothes from different seasons to show you how to make the most of them. With our unpredictable weather I'd never make full use of my lighter clothes otherwise.

I think this boho tunic will also be a great match with my white linen trousers or the flared jeans which I recently ordered from Mango. Unfortunately they are far too long for my 5'4... another job for my seamstress before I can show you that trendy combination.

BLAUE TUNIKA

THE MOST COMFORTABLE PENCIL SKIRT

THE MOST COMFORTABLE PENCIL SKIRT

The sun came out after a long grey and rainy period! My friend Véronique spent the weekend with me and jumped in as my photographer before we went out for a nice breakfast and some shopping in my neighbour town Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The weather now allows me to wear dresses and skirts again, albeit with my pale legs... For a while I meant to show you my new blue stretch skirt sent over by ISABI. I love working with them and have already shown you my bootcut jeans and my wide shrug. The jersey skirt creates a smooth silhouette and the deep elastic waistband makes it so comfortable for a day at the office.

I paired it with a soft blouse with paisley prints from French brand Etam. It is a bit longer, more like a tunic and also looks great over a pair of white skinny tousers or capris and flat sandals or espadrilles for a real summer feeling (well, one day... still waiting for that!)

Designed with you in mind

STYLING SERIES #1: BLACK JUMPSUIT WHITE & BLUE

PART 1: BLACK JUMPSUIT MEETS WHITE & BLUE

This black jumpsuit from Mango {similar here and here} made its first appearance on the blog here when Mr C and I spent a lovely weekend in Northern Italy last year. I couldn't wait to get it out again when I rearranged my spring/summer wardrobe last weekend.
It is such a versatile piece and can easily be styled in different ways: elegant in all black, colourful or even casual with a denim jacket - I will show you a different styling next week.

Make sure to check out Mango's mid season sale up to 30% off starting today - they have a great selection of black jumpsuits with and without sleeves!

WELCOME SPRING IN NAVY STRIPES

NAVY STRIPES

While most of my blogger friends on the other side of the North Atlantic are suffering from extreme weather conditions and my daughter in London needs to get her Hunters out, we are really lucky here in Germany! This weekend temperatures reached incredible 16C, I had breakfast at my terrace, love my pink primroses and I am wearing more pumps than boots this winter. And the weather forecast tells me I can keep on wearing more dresses, skirts and heels.

What might look like a blouse and a skirt is actually a dress. I love it as I can move, bend over or stretch and no blouse needs to be tucked in afterwards! I paired it with a white blazer and my orange bag adds a bit of colour.

I love pearl jewellery and today's necklaces, bracelet and ring are designed and produced in Germany by amika Schmuck {shown here and here}. Bianca, amika sales rep kindly sponsored it and if you have any questions or would like to place an order, you can reach her through her website Schmuckzauber or via Facebook

@Mr C: No, I'd never join the Navy - it would have to be the Air Force of course :-)

MARINE STREIFEN

BLUE VELVET DRESS

Blue Velvet

When I ordered this dress with its devoré effect and sequins, the colour appeared to be a lot lighter on the photo but actually now I don't mind the intense turquoise. And since it was on a major sale, it was a no-brainer keeping it. And finally I had a piece to pair with my snake clutch - I can't deny I am a matchy-matchy person!

You know I love dresses and use every opportunity to wear them. Since we had a very mild winter so far (this was the last shooting without any snow though), I didn't want to wear boots but my new suede pumps. Usually I prefer black opaque tights but this dress requires nude ones which is a new look for me!

BTW, I have never watched "Blue Velvet", don't think that's my type of movie.

Blue Velvet

HOW TO LOOK STYLISH IN THE OFFICE

Golden October weather at its best! Temperatures here in Germany were similar to the ones I enjoyed in Portugal last week. Back at work I want to show you a typical office look taken during my lunch break. Black&Blue is a mix I like a lot, I often pair jeans with a black blazer (make sure you come back for my next post) and also wore this colour combination here.

There are dress codes for various branches and you may have to obey a certain rule in your position. I work in a military, male dominated environment and I am dealing with visitors and high ranking officers and officials on a regular basis which involves a close cooperation with our Protocol Department.

LENGTH
Like in any professional environment pay attention to the length of your skirt or dress. I have a few clothes with a length at the edge of my personal comfort zone but some of them work very well with opaque tights.

BLAZER
Usually blazers are part of my office outfits as they complete a professional look. Make sure the fabric isn't too stiff or thick. This one is form fitted yet lightweight and comfortable when I sit at my desk. Alternatively I wear classic cardigans over a top or a dress. I prefer them to jumpers as they allow me to leave them open or even take them off a lot easier.

JEWELLERY
If you wear dark or neutral colours, accessorize them with some statement jewellery. Make make sure your earrings aren't too big as the clacking noise when answering the phone is distracting (I wore these only for the photos as they match the necklace!). I also find bangles not practical at work and go for bracelets instead.

HANDBAG
A classy handbag adds a professional touch to your attire. Usually I carry my lunch or other smaller items like sunglasses, gloves or in winter even a second pair of shoes to work. If my handbag is too small, I use an extra tote bag and love my Longchamps bags for that purpose.

WHAT DO YOU WEAR AT WORK? DO YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW A DRESS CODE?

I couldn't be more excited about being mentioned in the Wall Street Journal as "amongst the best blogs for fashionable mature women" here: http://on.wsj.com/18FnVWu

When we took these photos in the glorious sunshine we had to stop every couple of minutes as a lot of people went for a walk - including that cat which obviously enjoyed the warm weather too!

BLACK MEETS CERULEAN BLUE

After the unexpected snowfall last week the weather luckily remembered it's only mid of October and we are enjoying days of sunshine again. However, I caught a bad cold last week when we took these photos and instead of heels I had to wear socks and booties for the first time - a bit different from my usually more feminine footwear. What do you think?

I paired my new V-neck top with a combination of trousers and peplum jacket. Both made of a shiny fabric and therefore perfectly matching together like a suit.

When adea asked me which colours I'd prefer for my tops I chose a basic black (seen here) and this gorgeous cerulean blue. I couldn't be more comfortable with these shirts and as already mentioned last time, I will host a giveaway by adea for my readers in November!
