1. THIS is the photo backdrop I have always been aiming for... exclusive Notting Hill residential area. From your kind comments I know you love the green rural backgrounds of my posts at home which I tend to call "cow background" ;-) I do live in a beautiful region of Bavaria and certainly appreciate the clean and healthy environment with fields on my doorstep and mountains around my town. That's my current life and I want to remain authentic. But sometimes I feel business looks require a bit of an urban feeling as seen on Olivia of corporate catwalk, Kat of with love from Kat or Hedvig of The Northern Light. Know what I mean???

2. Low heels - flat ankle boots, plimsolls, lace ups and loafers have been the no.1 footware in London! With this look I wore my tortoise plimsolls from asos, an alternative to my flat leather booties (worn here).

3. Black - I have seen a lot of black in the city! It may have to do with the season but it is also the dominating style. Black opaque tights, short skirts and a coat plus an oversized scarf seemd to be the preferred daytime style besides black skinny trousers. I felt very comfortable in my faux leather leggings for our Sunday adventure (breakfast in Notting Hill here) - our great afternoon event with NIKE is coming up on the blog soon!






LONDON STYLE

1. DAS ist der Hintergrund, den ich immer für meine Fotos haben wollte... eine wunderschöne Wohngegend in Notting Hill. Ich weiß, dass vor allem meine internationalen Leserinnen die bayerische Landschaft lieben, die Ihr normalerweise auf meinen Fotos seht! Ich nenne sie gerne "Kuh Fotos", denn es sind halt Wiesen und Kühe, die es bei mir gibt ;-) Und da ich meine Heimat liebe, authentisch bleiben möchte und schließlich nicht einfach schnell am Nachmittag für ein Fotoshooting nach München (oder Notting Hill!) fahren kann, grünt und blüht es meistens auf meinen Fotos! Aber gerade für Büro- oder Abendlooks hätte ich manchmal einfach zu gerne städtische Hintergrundkulissen wie Olivia von corporate catwalk, Kat von with love from Kat oder Hedvig von The Northern Light. Ihr wisst, was ich meine???

2. Niedrige Absätze - flache Stiefeletten, Slippers, Schnürschure und Loafers sind hier in London zweifellos die Nr. 1, wenn es um Schuhe geht! Zu meinem heutigen Outfit habe ich meine Slippers von asos getragen und mal nicht meine Leder Booties, die sonst ständig zum Einsatz kamen (wie hier).

3. Schwarz - ich habe sehr viel Schwarz in der Stadt gesehen! Es hat vermutlich mit der Jahreszeit zu tun, aber es war auch einfach die dominierende Farbe: Kürzere Röcke, schwarze, blickdichte Strümpfe, dazu ein Kurzmantel und ein voluminöser Schal - alternativ schwarze Skinnies. Übrigens wenig Jeans (außer bei deutschen Schulklassen!!) Ich hatte für unseren tollen, ereignisreichen Sonntag meine schwarzen Lederleggings an. STYLE INSPIRATION

Who hasn't seen Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant in "Notting Hill" several times? I have... at least 10 times... Does it look like in the movie? Definitely - or even better! 

Notting Hill, located in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in West London is one of the most expensive areas but nevertheless Alena and I couldn't resist checking the housing rates at some estate agencies' windows. A 2-bedroom flat starts at around 500£... per week! And I am pretty sure there are quite a few side costs to be added. If you are looking for a bigger place, scroll down a bit, just hope you won't be disappointed if it has been sold by the time you call there!

The weather was mild and sunny and we did a little tour of the area and looked at some lovely shops and restaurants - here are our favourites:

Finally we headed towards DAYLESFORD FARM for the best fresh organic breakfast. Located at 208-212 Westbourne Grove, London W11 2RH it is a real treat for healthy food lovers and I can highly recommend it! Daylesford Farm has received several national and international awards and is one of the most sustainable farms in the UK. They have been farming organically for over 30 years and the farm in the beautiful Cotswalds can be visited as well.
In the restaurant you can't book a table but we went there on a late Sunday morning and within 10 minutes the friendly staff guided us to our table.
Definitely try their fruit bread, I even brought one home to Germany (and we do have a great selection of bread at home!)

REISETAGEBUCH LONDON - NOTTING HILL

Julia Roberts und Hugh Grant in "Notting Hill" hat sicher jeder mehrmals angeschaut, oder? Ich denke, ich komme leicht auf 10x... Sieht es "in echt" wirklich so aus? Ja, und sogar noch schöner!

Notting Hill, im Stadtteil Kensington und Chelsea in West London gelegen, zählt zu den teuersten Gegenden Londons überhaupt. Alena und ich haben aber trotzdem mal in den Fenstern der Maklerbüros geschaut, was denn so eine 2-Zimmer Wohnung kosten würde. Nun ja, nichts unter 500£... pro Woche! Und an die Nebenkosten möchte ich jetzt noch gar nicht denken. Und wem das zu klein ist - es geht auch geräumiger! Einfach ein bisschen runterscrollen. Ich hoffe nur, Ihr seid nicht enttäuscht, wenn das Schmuckstück schon weg ist, wenn Ihr dort anruft ;-)

Das Wetter war für November ausgesprochen mild und sonnig und wir haben vor unserem späten Frühstück noch eine kleinen Spaziergang durch diese herrliche Gegend gemacht und uns ein paar Läden und Restaurants angeschaut. Ich habe sie Euch oben im englischen Text mit Links aufgelistet.

Anschließend ging es in ein wunderhübsches, helles Restaurant-Café mit angeschlossenem Laden zum Frühstücken: DAYLESFORD FARM ist ein mehrfach national und international ausgezeichneter Ökobetrieb, der sich seit 30 Jahren auf gesunden, saisonalen Anbau und nachhaltige Produktion spezialisiert hat. Auf der Farm in den idyllischen Cotswolds kann der Betrieb auch direkt besichtigt werden.
Reservieren kann man dort nicht, aber wir haben am späten Sonntagmorgen trotzdem innerhalb von 10 Minuten einen Tisch bekommen.
Ausgezeichnete Produkte, sehr freundlicher Service und der Qualität angemessene Preise, wir können es nur empfehlen und gehen nächstes Mal auf jeden Fall wieder dort hin. Ich habe sogar noch ein Früchtebrot mit nach Hause genommen, so gut hat es uns geschmeckt!

For several years the area around London was a second home for me and I spent a lot of time commuting between Munich and London. Now it is my daughter's second home as she is studying Fashion Communication & Promotion at London's Central Saint Martins. Honestly, I couldn't be happier for her: She succeeded to get a place at this prestigious university and follows her dream in the fashion industry. Therefore I put a visit to CSM on top of my to-do list whilst in London these days. 
The impressive architecture with its old vs modern contrast, learning more about her challenging projects, the high technology used in their lessons (never seen so many Macs all over the place!), the lively and innovative atmosphere and finally meeting Alena's lovely roommate and friend Guan from Singapore and her other fellow students assured me that this is the place where she wants to be!

For long walks and jumping on and off the tube all day long, I needed to dress comfortably and flat shoes are essential in the city. Actually it is interesting to see that all women are wearing low heels during the day here in London. Only very occasionally I saw high heels and immediately felt very sorry for these ladies... I am really happy with my new leather booties which prove to be the right choice and I am wearing them all the time. Stretch skinnies from OPUS (I have coloured them from very light into this khaki green - it's very easy!) and my snake print jacket complete a casual city look.

It is Remembrance Day today and visiting the installation of poppies at the Tower was certainly something I didn't want to miss. London is always full of tourists - especially before Christmas - but the amount of people at the Tower was just incredible!

REISETAGEBUCH LONDON - CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS

Mehrere Jahre war die Gegend um London mein zweites Zuhause und ich habe unzählige Stunden pendelnd zwischen München und London verbracht. Nun ist es das zweite Zuhause meiner Tochter, denn Alena studiert hier Fashion Communication & Promotion am Central Saint Martins. Ja, ich bin sehr stolz und glücklich, dass sie es geschafft hat, an dieser renommierten Uni angenommen zu werden und hier ihrem Traum Stück für Stück näher kommt, erfolgreich in der Modebranche zu arbeiten!

Zur Zeit bin ich wieder in London und Alena konnte mich durch CSM führen -  der architektonisch interessante Bau mit einem Mix aus alten Backsteinen und moderner Glas-Stahlkonstruktion, die Hightech Ausstattung (ich habe noch nie so viele Macs an einem Ort gesehen!) und die lebendige und innovative Atmosphäre sind etwas ganz besonderes. Endlich hatte ich auch Gelegenheit, Alenas Freundin und Mitbewohnerin Guan aus Singapur und ihre anderen internationalen KommilitonInnen kennenzulernen und bin überzeugt: Das ist der richtige Ort für meine Tochter!

Wenn man den ganzen Tag auf den Beinen ist und von U-Bahn zu U-Bahn rennt, geht das nur mit flachen Schuhen. Ich habe tatsächlich tagsüber so gut wie keine Frau in London mit hohen Absätzen gesehen (und wenn, dann tat sie mir augenblicklich leid!) und meine flachen Leder Booties waren genau richtig und ich trage sie andauernd. Ein Glück, dass sie gerade noch Rechtzeitig vor meinem Abflug ankamen! Dazu passten bequeme Stretch Skinnies von OPUS (die ich übrigens in diesen Khakiton eingefärbt habe, geht bequem und sauber in der Waschmaschine) und meine Schlangenprintjacke für einen lässigen Look.

Das übliche Sightseeing Programm steht bei meinen London Besuchen nicht mehr an, aber heute ist Remembrance Day und ich wollte unbedingt noch das Meer an Poppies am Tower sehen. Dass ich dort nicht die einzige sein würde, hatte ich mir schon gedacht, London ist immer (und speziell vor Weihnachten) extrem voll, aber eine derartige Touristenmasse hatte ich dann doch nicht erwartet.

I've worn enough trousers recently and I have finally given in and said 'yes' to tights and boots with my dresses and skirts. Well, it's November after all! 
Nevertheless it is probably the last post without a warm coat as in the meantime we have had some snow... luckily I escaped from the cold and currently I am spending a week with my daughter in London - follow me on Instagram for photo updates.

This is the third pair of glasses I have selected from readers.com and again I am very happy with them - don't they add a bit of sophistication to my denim jacket? I love it when glasses add a different touch to an outfit and especially this model, "The Portofino" does make quite a statement!

It's all about wild cats on the blog today! A furry vest, wild leopard prints and retro cat eye glasses. Seems I can never get enough of animal prints ;-)

A fur vest is the perfect garment for this time of the year when I don't want to dress in too warm clothes yet but do need to keep warm in the mornings and at night. We have had wonderful weather over the last week, a real golden autumn and a lot of sunshine.

Today I am wearing the second pair of glasses from readers.com, a very different style than my first ones, "The Annette" shown here. A retro style with a cat eye shaped frame and leopard prints, called "The Brit". Also have a look how my blogger friends Jess of Elegantly Dressed and Stylish and Susan of Ava Grace's Closet wear them! I love the variety these affordable glasses offer and it is so much fun trying out different styles for various occasions.
