Do you think about and lay out your clothes for the next day the night before? Most probably not I assume. I did that when I was at school and even made little sketches (obviously that was well before Polyvore collages...)

Nowadays I don't plan ahead unless I have something special on my agenda but for a normal day in the office, I first step out on my terrace and then in front of my wardrobe and then dress according to the weather and my mood. When in doubt, I always go for a classic look and basic colours. I know a lot of women are quite passionate about stripes and I do like them too and have a couple of pieces in my wardrobe. This is an old top which I paired with a very comfortable stretch skirt and a white cotton blazer. Together with patent-leather peeptoes this is an appropriate summer look for the office (here is another office attire).

What I love about these basic pieces is their versatility. After work, I just swop my heels for sneakers or slippers and the blazer for a denim jacket!

I just love our hot summer this year and I am enjoying every moment outside. We have a couple of small, scenic lakes in the area and whenever I have a chance I go there at night when there are less people and have a swim. Even better now while my daughter is here over the summer break and joins me.

These days I wear my maxi dresses a lot, they are so comfortable and easy going. This one is from Athleta and I paired it with colourful jewellery, my straw tote from one of my travels to Thailand and golden flip flops from Accessorize (I also love these from Nine West and Nordstrom) - an ideal outfit for warm summer evenings.

I'll never complain about the heat but I still have to go to work...
In Germany the majority of offices are not air conditioned and working in a hot and sticky office is definitely a challenge these days! Personally I am lucky as my office is facing west, I have a balcony and leave the door wide open all day long which makes it very endurable.

#heatwavegermany - that's the hashtag I currently use for my Instagram photos and I love it! Living in Bavaria's mountain region makes it more durable anyway since temperatures cool down at night and I wake up to fresh, clean air in the mornings. I hope this weather will stay forever...

Summer evenings also mean BBQs and drinks and this weekend I wore my daughter's wideleg paisley trousers and a black top. The trousers are super comfortable and the wider top doesn't stick to the skin but is light and airy. I love my chunky silver statement jewellery and always get a lot of comments on the necklace from Mango.
