BLACK IS BACK

Dresses are my all-time favourites and after our very long winter, I am wearing them as much as I can.
I have bought more colourful garments recently but I will never give up my love for black.
As a bonus, black & white is one of the major trends this season!

Last week I took my mum out for a nice shopping afternoon and when we saw this dress with its white lace prints on both sides, it was her who said „This is made for you!“
The prints on both sides of the black middle part create a nice shape which is not a disadvantage 😉
Especially when it comes to fitted dresses, I now rather buy one size bigger for the sake of the proper length and the perfect fit which I can have adjusted by my seamstress if necessary.

This is what I call „age appropriate“ – it doesn’t mean you can’t wear short or fitted dresses but the perfect fit as well as the right accessories are even more important when you get older.

:::::

This dress is absolutely stunning on you. I think it was made for you:). I agree with you as to the importance of proper fit/length as you get older. I so enjoy your blog- love trying to read it in German first, before the English.:).

    Annette,
I love the simplicity of your outfit here… probably my favorite parts are you gorgeous hair and that dash of pink in your lipstick! You remind me of Lauren Hutton :). Also, that is really just neat if Anne to draw and send you a sketch of you and your great outfit. How cool!!! I love it! You are a class act, Annette.

I love the dress on you – very feminine and chic. Do you have a large wardrobe of clothes? Do you consider the quality of the clothes, the look of the garment or how it will fit in with what you already have? I am interested in how stylish women put together their clothing. I really enjoy your blog!

    • 22. April 2013 / 21:07

Thank you, Rebecca. I look for special offers and often shop on sale. I really rely on my seamstress to have my clothes altered if necessary. And yes, I never buy a single piece without thinking on how I can combine it with pieces I already have.
Luckily my daughter and I have a similar size and we often share clothes and accessories – always styled appropriate to our ages.

This dress looks amazing on you but I can't agree with you about black. Admittedly, my colouring is completely different and when I had my colours analysed I came out as a Spring (I would love for you to have it done and report back). That meant no to black and no to white. At the time I was in a corporate role so it was very difficult but I gradually eliminated black, only for it to creep back in in recent years. However, I keep black away from my face or wear it as an LBD. I need colour!

    • 22. April 2013 / 21:14

Lorraine, it is important to identify colours that flatter our skintone and those that don't. In a corporate environment the work around is probably black trousers and skirts but neutral or light coloured tops.

Yes, I should definitely do a colour analysis!

Your jewellery is very nice as well. Contemporary and beautiful. Love the sandals you are wearing with them.
As for me… I am like Lorraine, black nor white really suit my face. But I love them both. I solved it by wearing a colour with it, either in a top, scarf or necklace. Or I say: I don't care today.

Annette, I just adore you. I know our styles are very different- yours is so elegant and sophisticated, and I'm a guttersnipe but I really feel inspired by you. I love how you are quiet in your play of colors and cuts and textures of fabrics, but the play is there. Variety for interest, but not for mere novelty. Timeless. You look a vision of loveliness, and those shoes are truly a stellar platform for the woman shining in them.
