TRADITIONAL BAVARIAN DIRNDL
It’s time to get ready for the Oktoberfest! The biggest beerfest and partyzone in the world will open its tents next weekend for 2 weeks which means more than 7 million litres of beer, 500000 grilled chickens and countless hangovers…A dirndl is the traditional costume for women in Bavaria and other Alpine countries and regions like Austria and South Tyrol in Italy. Every region has its own style and it is very interesting to see the variety of dresses at the grand opening ceremony next weekend. At the Oktoberfest you will also see a lot of „modern“ types of dirndls in a mini length or with a lot of glitter… That’s not my cup of tea and as native Bavarian, a dirndl is part of my culture and identity and I perfer a classic style.
The combination of red and green is very popular here and also my dress is quite long which was always the case for a dirndl in the old days. It is made of silk and an investment piece which I bought a couple of years ago. However, I can wear it different ways depending on the occasion. Here you can see my version from last year where I paired it with a white blouse and a black apron. Today I am wearing my red and white gingham blouse and a dark green apron for a different look.
EIN TRADITIONELLES BAYERISCHES DIRNDL
Nur noch 1 Woche, dann heißt es wieder „O’zapft is!“ Natürlich spreche ich von der Wiesn und es ist Zeit, mein Dirndl auszuführen!Da ich ja selbst aus Oberammergau stamme, kommt für mich auch nur ein klassischer, traditioneller Stil in Frage, mit einem kurzen Glitzerdirndl würde ich mir nicht nur verkleidet vorkommen, sondern wäre bei allen Einheimischen sofort unten durch! Aber ein paar witzige Accessoires dürfen es gerne sein.
Mein Dirndl stammt von Angermaier in München, ich habe es vor einigen Jahren gekauft und es ist aus reiner Seide. Ein Dirndl kauft man schließlich nicht für eine Saison, denn man kann es mit Bluse und Schürze immer wieder unterschiedlich kombinieren. Letztes Jahr habe ich es Euch hier mit einer feinen weißen Bluse und schwarzer, transparenter Schürze vorgestellt. Heute trage ich eine rot-weiß karierte Bluse und eine dunkelgrüne Schürze dazu. Und es wirkt wie ein neues Dirndl, oder?

das sieht großartig aus…. <3 Ich bin wirklich ein Dirndl-Fan - damit sieht Frau immer weiblich aus und es betont die Stärken und lässt die Schwächen "von denen bei Dir eh keine vorhanden sind" hinten runter fallen. Und der Vergleich mit Deinem letztjährigen Wies'n-Post macht es gaaaanz deutlich - Dirndl und Bluse lassen ein- und dasselbe Dirndl gleich ganz anders wirken.... schade eigentlich, dass diese Kleider so selten zum Einsatz kommen.... 🙁

Liebe Annette, bezaubernd schaust du aus. Ich gebe zu, ich hatte noch nie im Leben ein Dirndl an. Doch irgendwie finde ich langsam gefallen daran Also zu richtigen Gelegenheit kann ich mir durchaus vorstellen, doch mal in diese weibliche Tracht zu schlüpfen.

sehr fesch! So ein Dirndl ist einfach ein tolles Kleidungsstück und die Wandlung mit Bluse und Schürze ist Dir sehr gelungen. Da kann das Oktoberfest ja kommen. ich wünsche Dir viel Spass auf der Wiesn. Leider weiß ich noch nicht, ob wir in diesem Jahr die Wiesn besuchen, Lust hätte ich schon, wenn ich Dein schönes Dirndl betrachte.

für mich als Kind des Westens ist die ganze bayrische Tradition ganz weit weg und sehr ungewohnt. Trotzdem finde ich euch in euren Dirndln zum Anbeißen, deines betont ganz besonders schön dein tolles Décolleté. Dass man auch in einem Dirndl ganz Lady sein kann habe ich jetzt durch dich und Gaby von Stylish Salat auf jeden Fall gelernt. Deine Schuhwahl ist für mein Auge ungewohnt an dir, ich kann mich gar nicht erinnern, dich schon einmal in flachen Schuhen gesehen zu haben. Ist das der Tradition geschuldet oder einfach eine Entscheidung für die Bequemlichkeit?

When my sister and I were little girls, my parents used to take us shopping every year for new dirndls!! We had to make the trip from the suburbs (where we lived) to a specialty shop in downtown Toronto; and the whole thing was always a very special occasion for us. I love the traditional dress. I used to dance Croatian folklore and all of my children are dancing now. Plus, I used to live in Waterloo that holds the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Germany.
Liebe Annette! Du siehst wieder einmal einfach nur GROSSARTIG aus! Dein Dirndl ist ein Traum und ich finde es toll, wie unterschiedlich Du Dein „altes Stück“ stylst und dadurch beweist, dass es nicht jedes Jahr ein neues Dirndl braucht. Man braucht nur das richtige Stylinghändchen und kann sein Dirndl jedes Jahr aufs Neue anders wirken lassen. Und wie so oft muss ich schmunzeln, da wir schon wieder auf derselben „Wellenlänge“ sind. This is an amazing representation of your culture. I love the traditional style you chose! I wouldnt chose glitter either! My husband is more of a beer drinker and has been to Germany, just not during Octoberfest, I bet it is amazing. THe dress is so lovely and flatters you as well.
